Cleanse Day 3
My first meal after the cleanse. Mmm, java!
Wake up feeling groggy, even after nine hours. But I’m also feeling revitalized because it is going to be up to the mid seventies today!
Noon: Feeling sleepy and realize I’m drinking my juices to slow today. It’s already 12:35 and I’m not even on juice 2. I also haven’t been missing coffee the way I thought I would up until this point. This tired feeling combined with a slight dull headache is reminiscent of the sensations I felt a week ago when I was ebbing off caffeine for the first time. Not sure why it’s coming back now…
The rest of the afternoon was pretty uneventful. Steady numb feeling combined with waves of exhaustion. One REALLY cool thing though was a heightened sense of smell. Coffee beans smelled like straight chocolate and I knew what brand of gum the girl standing next to me at the traffic light was – bubblicious. Which, at the time, smelled gross.
Walked home with Renee over the bridge which was a great idea until halfway through when my stomach began eating itself. But by the time I got back to the apartment I was feeling ok. I’m sure it was partly because I knew that the evening was coming to a close and I only had two juices ahead of me EVER.
SO, overall the experience was not pleasant. There were moments of clarity and a feeling of accomplishment at having conquered my hunger for three days but I found it paled in comparison to the joy I experienced eating peanut butter banana toast and sipping on coffee the next day (which immediately put me in a caffeinated state of hysteria. WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE CAN’T WORK OUTSIDE?! I’M SURE THERE ARE PLENTY OF PRODUCTION COMPANIES THAT HAVE DANCE PARTIES IN THE GRASS WHILE ACCOMPLISHING THEIR WORK FOR THE DAY!).
I also found that the cleanse made me feel way too waif-like. I’m a pretty small girl and I like to have some feminine density, not feel like a bony baby kitten who has yet to gain her cat fat. Just gross.
Up next: Seeing if I can handle a tostado AND a margarita for dinner. Probably not the best idea, but damnit, I deserve it!
Happy Eating! xoxo
